If I had to pick my favorite plant, it would be very hard. I have several, but like the song goes, " I love the one I am with".

For some reason, the most beautiful plants (in my eyes) flower in the spring or early summer. Irises of all kinds, columbines and tulips. But, the most magnificent of all has to be the oriental poppy. In southern Ontario it flowers at the end of June for a few splendid days.

After the flowers fade, we can look forward to the annual field poppies, which are dainty and delightful and sway in the breeze.Threw down a few seeds and the bright red poppies, or the canary yellow California poppies will reward you for years to come.

So, I suppose if cornered I would have to say that I love red poppies the best - or at least until next spring when the columbines bloom!
